Modern Movements for In-Place Pipe Repair

trenchless pipe replacement

Commercial pipe systems are challenging by design. No matter the size of the business involved, a variety of pipe systems are likely in place. When it comes time to make updates or repairs, this can make the process even more difficult. Or at least it used to be that way. All of this has changed, thanks to the possibility of completing in-place pipe repair.

Cured-in-Place Pipe Repairs: To Strengthen Pipes

When we talk about the future of commercial pipe repairs, there’s no digging in that vision. Over the last several years, cured-in-place piping (or CIPP) repairs have taken hold and become standard. In CIPP, damaged pipes are repaired where they already are. This is often a welcome change from traditional pipe repairs. In the past, repairs meant digging–which always meant time, waste, and a huge mess.

With CIPP, no dirt is displaced and the work can be completed quickly. In this method, a new section of pipe or a new liner is affixed to the failing section. The parts are connected and bonded with specially formulated resins. Once cured into a single section of pipe, the repair is guaranteed to survive at least 50 years or more! Less worry about a future repair means more time focused on business functions.

To Remove Burst or Split Pipes?

Another method for completing in-place pipe repair is pipe splitting. A team of professional pipe workers will use specialized equipment to burst through an existing pipe. This will result in the expansion of surrounding ground, using the movement to insert the new section of pipe into place. The difference between pipe splitting and CIPP is that pipe splitting is designed to address larger diameters of pipe.

Additionally, pipe-bursting does require some mess to expand the pathways. Before the work can be completed, a hole is dug to insert the new section. While it is not as significantly time-consuming and messy as traditional pipe repairs, there is some trench-based preparation. This method can result in some ground shifting or settling, and it is not always the best option for sand or rock surfaces. For the best way to keep things safe and secure, hiring the right team is essential. Partnering with Advanced Pipe Repair will provide your business with the strongest plan for repair success.
