What Can Go Wrong with Trenchless Pipe Repair?

trenchless pipe repair

When dealing with a broken pipe, you want a quick solution that will last. Advanced Pipe Repair, Inc. is the leader in trenchless pipe repair and plumbing restoration. We use the latest trenchless pipe lining technologies. The result is your plumbing system is restored without the expensive procedures used in the past.

The CIPP Repair Process

As soon as we arrive at your site for a trenchless pipe repair, one of our specialists first snakes a video camera through the pipe to assess the damage. The next step is inserting a Cured-in-Place-Piping (CIPP) liner into the pipe. This is the latest technology in trenchless pipe repair. The specialist inserts the liner into the broken pipe from a utility hole or other access point, so there’s no need to dig a big hole on your property. After it’s fully inserted, the CIPP liner runs along the inside of the broken pipe.

Once the liner has been bonded to the existing pipe and the two pieces cured, your sewer system is back in working order. The process only takes a few hours with UV or LED curing materials. During this process, the CIPP liner adheres itself to the host pipe, sealing away cracks and holes. Once the liner is dry, the pipe is ready for use. Our specialist does a final check with the video camera to make sure there are no unforeseen problems.

What Can Go Wrong with Trenchless Pipe Repair?

At Advanced Pipe Repair, we use the CIPP process with great success. However, it does not solve every problem. For example, older sewer pipes may not be installed at the proper pitch. In addition, some soils are more forgiving than others. Correcting a line’s pitch requires trenching. Pipelining can’t fix problems like broken lines or offset joints. Also, obstructions like concrete create additional problems. Since it’s impossible to know exactly what is underground, there can be unexpected costs and complications with trenchless pipe repair. However, Advanced Pipe Repair works hard to avoid any surprises in the costs.

While this repair process is considered trenchless, there may be some digging involved. If utility lines are located near the broken pipe, they can be damaged if the operator isn’t careful. But the concern of damaging other utility pipes is minimal with the CIPP process, as opposed to older methods.

Trenchless pipe repair may require permits in some municipalities. It’s important to work with an experienced company like Advanced Pipe Repair that knows which permits are necessary. If not, a project could be delayed or subject to fines.
